the spokesman for the Huthi group, Mohamed Abdel Salam, said Monday that the Stockholm agreement between the parties of Yemen (6-13 December last) did not indicate in any way that neutral parties are to take over the port of Hodeidah or elsewhere.
This came in response to the British Foreign Secretary, who toured in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, to push for the implementation of the agreement, which explicitly demanded the withdrawal of the Houthis from Hodeidah and ports, according to the agreement.
“The agreement indicates steps to be done by all parties, and the demand for redeployment from one party is not only bias, but a lie, deception and fallacy of a published agreement,” Abdel Salam said in a lengthy post on Facebook.
He explained that the Yemeni government requires the need to agree on local forces, “although this is contrary to the agreement, which did not provide for consensus on any local authority or forces.”
He noted that his group had only accepted a United Nations supervisory role in the port of Hodeidah.
