UAE-backed forces in Aden impose illegal royalties on commercial vehicles

Security forces imposed illegal royalties on commercial vehicles and trucks at security checkpoints at the entrances of the interim capital of Aden.

Commercial truck drivers said their trucks were stopped by security forces at the Al-Alam checkpoint at the eastern entrance to Aden before they were forced to pay around 30,000 riyals for the entry and exit of commercial trucks to or from Aden.

Other truck drivers stopped at the “Rabat” checkpoint, the northern entrance to Aden, for payment of money to security forces, in return for permits to pass through to Aden.
A local source said that the security belt forces have already begun to pass permits to commercial trucks to or from the city of Aden, in exchange for money payments.

A special source said that the reason is related to the lack of financial support for the security forces supported by the coalition in recent times.
according to the source, the decline in financial support pushed leaders in the belt to start the imposition of illegal levies.
