Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, passed away at the age of 86, concluding a brief three-year reign. The official Kuwaiti television announced the appointment of Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, as the new Amir of Kuwait, succeeding the late Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
This decision was made after Sheikh Meshal was granted the authority to carry out most of the duties of the late Amir in 2021. Sheikh Meshal is the half-brother of the late Amir and holds a prominent position as the head of the National Guard in Kuwait.
Known for his passion for hunting and desert trips, Sheikh Meshal worked to strengthen the country’s security and defense apparatus throughout his professional life.
