A military source said that at least one soldier was killed, at dawn on Monday, and two others were wounded in an ambush by gunmen affiliated to the Southern Transitional Council and targeted vehicles belonging to the legitimate government forces, west of the city of Al-Mahfad in the province of Abyan (south of the country).
The source said that gunmen affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council targeted reinforcements of the government forces as they passed on the main road in “Dyqa” area of the Al-Mahfad district in the southeast of Abyan governorate, killing one soldier and wounding two others.
According to the source, the military reinforcements were coming from Shabwa Governorate to the Al-Mahfad district to reinforce the government forces stationed there.
During the past eight months, armed men loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council carried out direct armed attacks and ambushes targeting military reinforcements of government forces in Al-Mahfad district.
