Socotra governor threatens rebels with strong response

The Governor of Socotra Governorate, Ramzi Mahrous, threatened today, Tuesday, the rebel battalion of the first brigade (naval)  if they do not retract the rebellion.

Mahrous called – during a military parade organized by the brigade command – the rebel brigades to “return and submit to the authority of the state before the leadership takes unimaginable measures because of their breach of military honor.”

Ramzi Mahrous urged the army to raise combat readiness and defend state institutions.

He said, “The country is going through a dangerous turn that requires everyone to join hands and cohesion in order to restore the state.”

He stressed the importance of defending the country’s gains and the sovereignty of its lands, and protecting military sites and institutions in the province.

Last February, two military battalions in Socotra announced their rebellion against the legitimate government and their support for the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council.
