Emirati prominent academic Abdul Khaliq Abdullah has stirred controversy after tweeting that his country will not enter a battle that has nothing to do with it.
Abdullah said in a tweet on Twitter: “The UAE calculates its positions a million times, and is too smart to be thrown into a battle that does not have any concern of.”
Observers said that the adviser to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi refers to Saudi Arabia, because of the high level of tension between Riyadh and Tehran due to the Saturday attack.
Observers believe that the UAE-Saudi relations are not doing well, especially after the UAE decision to reduce the military presence in Yemen within the coalition led by Saudi Arabia. Tensions have also risen after a visit by an Emirati military delegation to Iran.
