In a strange phenomenon, an imam of a mosque in Aden prayed against members of the Islah Party during Taraweeh prayers last Monday.
The Imam belongs to the doctrine of Hani ibn Brik, the radical Salafist sheikh, and receives support from the director of the Awqaf office in Aden (Muhammad al-Wali) who belongs to the same sect.
The director general of Awqaf in Aden has been implementing a plan to expel all the imams of the Aden mosques, including the moderate Salafist groups, to bring loyalists to his party.
The man succeeded in ousting imams of more than 30 mosques, including mosques of the Salafist movement, threating them by the UAE-backed security belt forces.
Residents appealed to President Hadi and the government to stop the incitement and exclusion against the imams.
Aden was known for centuries as a city of religious coexistence and cultural and civilizational tolerance.
