Al-Hassani reveals brutal torture by UAE officers against Yemenis in prisons in Eritrea

The former Yemeni detainee in the UAE prisons, Adel al-Hassani, revealed a part of the violations by the UAE forces against Yemeni detainees transferred to the island of Asab in Eritrea.

 

Al-Hassani said that the UAE had transferred Yemeni detainees to its military base on the Eritrean island of Asab.

 

Al-Hassani quoted detainees who returned to Bir Ahmed prison in the city of Aden as saying that the detainees and the forcibly disappeared were subjected to various abuses and torture by Emirati officers there.

 

According to al-Hassani, UAE forces transferred about 30 detainees to a secret prison at the military base on the Eritrean island.

 

The former Yemeni detainee explained that the UAE officers at the military base on the island of Asab practised various kinds of torture against detainees who were transferred from their prisons in the city of Aden (south) in a brutal manner.

 

He added that the prison in the UAE on the island of Asab is dark wooden boxes, where the detainees are held without being provided with a swab to ease their warm weather.
