fiercest fighting broke out early Friday in Shabwa province (southeast Yemen) between tribal gunmen and groups of elite forces backed by the United Arab Emirates.
Local sources said that the forces of “elite” backed by the United Arab Emirates attacked on Thursday midnight the area of ”alSadah” in the district of “Markha alSufla” northwest of Shabwa province while they were trying to find a person belonging to al Qaeda.
The sources said that air force belonging to the UAE had participated in the battles and bombed the area.
According to the sources, the armed clashes lasted for several hours, resulted in several deaths ( seven gunmen of the tribes, and about eight dead and wounded from the attacking forces) before a tribal mediation stopped the clashes.
Residents of the area said that “we were surprised by the storming attack, so we had to defend our families and homes”.
