The Houthi group claimed on Saturday that they withdrew from the port of Hodeidah and handed it over to the Coast Guard forces, in the presence of the UN head monitor team General “Patrick Camart.
Houthi governor Mohamed Ayash Quhaim told Reuters the houthi fighters had withdrawn from the port in accordance with the peace deal and handed over the responsibility to local units of the Coast Guard, which was responsible for port security before the war.
A senior houthi commander called “Abu Jihad” took the charge of managing the port.
While a government source denied the withdrawal of the Houthi militia from the port, Yemeni journalist Samir alNimri said: “Houthis today officially took the port from their gunmen and handed it over to themselves!”.
Other social activists described this process as “Fake Play”.
“Abu Jihad” was appointed by the Houthis a few months ago as commander of the Coast Guard.
