Informed sources revealed that Houthi rebels expelled 117 academics from the University of Sanaa, on charges of absenteeism.
Sources confirmed that the President of the university, which is under the control of the Houthis, said that university management decided to terminate the services of 117 academics from all faculties of the university.
The Assistant professor at the faculty of Languages Mohammed al-Qadi described on his Facebook page that what happened was a “mass massacre” against academics.
Observers warned that rebels took this step in a move aimed at destroying academic education.
In early October, the Council of Sanaa University-affiliated to Houthis arbitrarily dismissed more than 160 academics from the university, most of whom preferred to leave the capital Sana’a for fear of kidnapping.
