Hulk Hogan, one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling history in the United States, passed away on Thursday at the age of 71. The news was confirmed by multiple U.S. media outlets.
Sky Sports reported that ambulances were seen outside his home in Clearwater, Florida, before he was transported to the nearest hospital. According to American reports, police received emergency calls at around 9:30 a.m., and paramedics attempted to resuscitate him before he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Further details are expected to be shared by the police during a press conference later on Thursday.
His agent, Chris Vollo, stated that the WWE legend died at home surrounded by his family. Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, is regarded as the most iconic figure in WWE’s five-decade history. He took part in the very first WrestleMania in 1985 and remained a central figure in the wrestling world for years.
Hulk Hogan won six WWE championships and also had a prominent presence in various films and television shows.
